I need to copy copy a calculated table to a new one. I want to save the old calculated table. The "obvious" thing to do is to bring up the calculated table and then copy and edit it under a new name. But I can't copy or paste in the DAX command box. Copying the table copies all the data in the table.

Why?

You can, but there is a bug. The easiest way to make it work every time is to click once in the formula bar, then press control + a, and then copy from there

I just discovered that! I used CTL-C to copy and it copied. For whatever reason -- might have been my keyboard -- it had not happened the first time I tried. A context menu option with a right-click would be nice as well.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to import a DAX script from a text file?

There is a bug with the mouse cursor. If you click and drag your mouse in the formula bar, as long as you release the mouse while the pointer is still in the formula bar, it will work. If you release your mouse while the pointer is not inside the formula bar, it doesn't work.

it is possible to import tax formulas using tabular editor, but it is not a trivial task. Look at my blog articles here https://exceleratorbi.com.au/introduction-to-tabular-editor-for-business-users/
