Power bi Monthly updates - May 2026 : Need help in setting up the Copilot summary shortcuts

Hi everyone,

I'm a Power BI admin at my organization and also have Fabric capacity. According to the guidelines from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/explore-reports/copilot-pane-summarize-content
we've ensured all permissions are in place and the necessary options are enabled. However, I still can't see the Copilot summary shortcut in the ribbon or on the visuals.

Any guidance or assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Lodha_Jaydeep , I have tried this way and thank you for your time in helping me . Unfortunetly I am not able to load the data. Insted I run a power shell script and I am able to extract the information regarding the users of all workspaces in my organization along with the roles as well.
Thansk a lot for putting efforts in help me once again.

I will keep in touch with you moving forward if the method what you have suggest can help in a better way.

I agree , running the powershell script is more static and manual. I would apriciate if the suggestion help me in getting the data load to a power bi reprot.

I am a Power BI Admin within my organization (not a Global Tenant Admin). My primary responsibility is as a Capacity Admin, and I manage several workspaces, datasets, and capacities.

We have recently started working on Dataset (Semantic Model) Lifecycle Management, and as part of this initiative, I am looking for a way to gain better visibility and governance across the workspaces I administer.

Specifically, I would like to know if there is a recommended or supported approach to retrieve the following information across workspaces where I am an admin:

All workspaces
Workspace users along with their roles (Admin, Member, Contributor, Viewer)
Semantic models (datasets)
Reports and dashboards associated with those workspaces

I have attempted to use a few Power BI REST APIs via PowerShell scripting, but I would appreciate guidance on:

Which REST APIs are best suited for this purpose
Any prerequisites or tenant settings required
Best practices to gain full administrative control and visibility over the workspaces I manage (without being a Global Admin)

Any suggestions, documentation references, or sample approaches would be greatly appreciated.

I am very happy to see the solution worked out for some one ! Can any one suggest me how I can use a rest API to pull the refresh history for all the workspaces and the datasets as I am the power bi admin . when I said to pull the refresh the data , I want to create a power bi report using API - If I can get answers for this , I apriciate the help - Thanks

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your time and efforts in helping me with the issue I’m facing.

To provide more context: I installed the on-premises data gateway on a virtual machine with assistance from a colleague. After setting up the gateway, I tested a report refresh via the Power BI Service, and it completed successfully within 1–2 minutes.

However, when I attempted to refresh the same report using my actual gateway server, it took almost 5 hours before returning an error message.

I’ve been working with the Microsoft support team to troubleshoot the issue. They’ve reviewed the gateway configuration, server health, networking, framework, and related components everything appears to be in order. I was recently asked to upload the gateway logs again for further analysis.

Microsoft also suggested checking with the Snowflake network team. However, I’m not convinced the issue lies with the Snowflake database server, as it works perfectly with the other gateway I tested earlier.

A few people also suggested reviewing ODBC and ADO.NET settings, as well as query optimization on the Snowflake side. However, based on my observations, these do not seem to be the root cause in this case.

Could anyone provide insights into what might be causing this issue or suggest any other potential solutions?

I am not able to refresh the power bi report in service.

We are encountering a critical issue with a Power BI report connected to a Snowflake data source via an on-premises data gateway. The report refreshes successfully in under five minutes when executed from Power BI Desktop. However, once published to the Power BI Service, the on-demand refresh fails after more than five hours, with the following error:

Last Refresh Failed: 12-May-2025, 10:38:10 AM
Error Message:

Data Source: Snowflake (cloud-based)
Gateway: Configured via an on-premises gateway cluster with 4 servers
Network: All gateway servers’ static IPs are whitelisted in Snowflake
Gateway Status: Connection test is successful with valid credentials
Dataset Mode: Import

Issue Summary:

Report refresh completes in <5 mins via Power BI Desktop.
Report fails when refreshed in Power BI Service, timing out after 5+ hours.
Error suggests a timeout occurring at the ADO.NET provider level during query execution through the gateway.

Request for Support:

Reviewing the root cause of the timeout through the gateway pipeline.
Confirming any known limitations or timeout configurations related to Snowflake connections via gateway.
Providing recommendations to ensure reliable refresh from Power BI Service.
