Thanks very much for responding. This has given me the impetus to press on.

I think I had missed something obvious - there were still some filters set on the visual from where I had tried to achieve the same result without adding the measures.

I'm obviously mssing something here.

I have two measures which display the expected result on the report, one shows the number of records matching a filter, the other shows the total number of records.

BUT when I create a third measure which divides on by the other, I always get 1.

Count5+EM = calculate(countrows(filter(AssessmentResults,AssessmentResults[Result] in {"5+"}))) -displays on a card as 212

StudentNumber = value(calculate(DISTINCTCOUNT(AssessmentResults[StudentId]))) -displays on a card as 119

%5+EM = [Count5+EM]/[StudentNumber] -displays on a card as 1

I have tried putting all the calculations together in one measure, but the result is the same.

However I try it, I can't get PowerBI to divide my 119 by 212.

It doesn't seem like too much to ask.
