Refresh method

I was wondering if I have the same report, but uploaded to two workspaces in the service. Same dataset, set to same time to refresh.

Surely the gatway would only send one lot of this data, not two?

Exactly, they were the two issues I faced. Hence hoping there is some other way. I hoped to avoid having to do it by post code, or need to map the boundaries.

We currently have a simple table with the address details of our customers. We have one column in the table, "Coverage (km)", which is the amount of kilometers that the customer will travel. We wish to use that field to denote the size of the bubble dropped at the location. It has to however be the correct size, i.e.a value of 10 should show a 10KM wide bubble based on the geography of the report. I wonder if this is possible? We are using the Esri Power BI visualization, however could change to a different visualization due to this requirement.

Right, of course! Many thanks for that. I have set a security group for it in O365 and assigned to all staff.

Will see how it goes with their reports in CRM now.

We are using Power BI service reports within Dynamics 365 for Sales (aka CRM).

The issue that we have though is that even though I "Share" the report and datasource with the users, the report still does not load, it states that they need to "To view this report ask the auther for access". It is only after they have clicked on the link, then the Power BI admin account receives an email, and then clicking on that allows access.

My questions

1) Have I missed a step in the back end that enables permission? It is cumbersome to have to go through the email process with each user and approve them.

2) Is there a way to grant access to all staff as read only, based on the O365 tenancy? Since we are all using the same domain, I expected the ability to be able to set a permssion of "Read" for "All domain users".

Thanks for the response. That I don't think is what I need to do. What you suggest will support multiple data sources with one Power BI instance. WHat I need to solve is having two differen Power BI service instances (different domain in use from Office365), but the one gateway.

One gateway - Two Power BI tenancies

We currently have two different tenancies on Office 365, with two different CRM instances. While we may combine them in the future, at this point we like them separate as they serve different audiences and have different rules around them.

My issue is, we have only one gateway installed that both instances need to receive some data from. I cannot see though a way to have one gateway serve two different CRM tenancies. Is that possible? It seems I can only enter on login account, that locks it to that instance.

We wish to avoid having to install another gateway as this is more admin and causes a network headache. Our gateway version installed is now quite old (version 14.16.6670.1 from April 2018). So I thought of upgrading the gateway in the hope that this is a feature that was added after our version. I wanted to confirm if that is the case first though, as otherwise the gateway is working well.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I think I have resolved this (with your help of course). I was replacing "Customer No_" field with the slicer field "posting Date 2", which was incorrect. I changed it to use Customer No_ as your DAX had, and now it seems to be working. Many thanks for your assistance there I have learned a lot.

For me the standard gateway alert never worked, I was unable to specify another email address.

However, luckily since then we have very few issues with the gateway. So it has not been as important.

Thank you again. I did have a slicer, but using a date. I tested disabling the slicer connection and it then showed all groups.

So I have modified it to include the ALLSELECTED and ALLEXCEPT and enabled the sclier . Then it is showing the correct total based on slicer selection, but the backet group is all lumped in one group again. I am sure I must have made a simple newbie mistake though.

Unfortunately only 2 of the 4 ranking groups are showing. Even though there are results for the other two groups.

What I was not too sure about was your step 2). This is only for a visual check, and not required for the required result correct?

My apologies. This is the data source. It is very simple, just a customer number and sales amount.

What we need to do is have it summarized by ranking and the total sales per each ranking as per below.

Rank Group    Total Sales Amount
1-20%             1,544,890
21-50%           1,043,878
51-150%            903,968
151-%                648,891

The method I took was to use asimple table with ranges in it and the below DAX.

Ranking Group = CALCULATE(VALUES('Ranking Buckets'[Rank]), FILTER(ALL('Ranking Buckets'),Sales_Analysis[Sales Ranking] >= 'Ranking Buckets'[Start] && Sales_Analysis[Sales Ranking] <= 'Ranking Buckets'[End]))

In PowerPivot previously this worked and I could see all ranking groups. However in BI the behaviour is different it seems, and everything is lumped into the first group.

I have a simple sales table per customer.

Customer No | Customer Disc Group | Sales Amt

I need to show a table in Power BI based on it, showing the ranking but in groups.

1-20% 1,544,890

21-50% 1,043,878

51-150% 903,968

151-% 648,891

So I made a measure which does the ranking per customer, that works.

Sales Ranking = RANKX(All(Sales_analysis[Customer No_],Sales_Analysis[Customer Disc Group],Sales_Analysis[Name]), [Sales Amt],,0,DENSE)

I then need somehow to group that for the groups above. I tried creating a "Bucket Table", and linked with this.

Ranking Group = CALCULATE(VALUES('Ranking Buckets'[Rank]), FILTER(ALL('Ranking Buckets'),Sales_Analysis[Sales Ranking] >= 'Ranking Buckets'[Start] && Sales_Analysis[Sales Ranking] <= 'Ranking Buckets'[End]))

However I only see the first row, I am unable to get the other groups. Would anyone have any advice?

Thanks for the response. I mean in a report. In all reports there is no longer a horizontal scrolling bar.

I notice that since the latest service update now there seems to be no horizontal scroll bar. That is an issue on reports that are very wide, we cannot scroll to the far right and click the elypsis icon to export the data as CSV. Is this a temporary glitch I wonder?

Unfortunately no it did not. I did set it to my correct email account in the gateway properties. But when the synchronise fails I do not receive any mails. Not going to spam or anything like that. I tried with several different mail accounts from differing mail providers. Luckily for me synchronizing rarely fails now as I moved the gateway to a different, much more stable server environment, so this is less of an issue, but still an issue for me. Nothing worse than the MD rushing over at month end complaining that the "system is broken again".

Stacked bar chart on map

Hi PBI Community

We are wanting to use a map, but have a clustered bar chart per region.

Using the "Map" object we can have a pie chart shown per region, and the "Treemap" object gives a flat colour per region. But what we wish is to have a vertical graph shown on a spherical map, showing more than one legend, (e.g. Quantity by sales gorup as the legend) . The custom "Globemap" visual comes close, but only seems to show one legend.

Below is an example of what we would like to do. I wonder if anyone knows if this is possible with any custom visuals, or otherwise in PowerBI?
