My problem is that I have to work with unusual data tables were some dimensions are in the fact tables. This is a simplified example of my tables:

Products[ID]

Products[Title]

Sales[Date]

Sales[Color]

Sales[Amount]

I need to produce the report like this:

Products[Title]	Week No	Sales[Color]	Sales[Amount]	Sales[Color]=green
abc	12	Red	10000	5000
cde	12	Black	4000	5000

Hi folks,

I am looking for any hint for this unusual scenario. I have Products (dimension) and Sales (fact) tables that are related through 1-many relationship. If I use ALL(Sales) in my measure, it removes filters not only from Sales, but from the Products table too. How do I remove filters for the Sales table only?

OK, I have db_datareader enabled. I can connect to my data source in import mode. However when I change it to Direct mode, it does not connect anymore.

Anonymous Thank for your tips. However I failed to find role allowing to perform queries only. Should Write permissions be granted in order to be able to use Direct queries? On the other hand is role db_datareader not sufficient to use Direct queries in Power BI?

Hi,

I have configured a table in Power Query that connects to SQL Server table in Direct mode. I see data extracted in Power Query window. However when I Close & Apply I end up with an error message that says "We couldn't connect to your DirectQuery data source or internal model. Double-check that your server and database names are correct, and that you have permission to access them.". Does connection in Direct mode require some special permission other than Import mode ?

I tried adding a column by multiplying the column in trouble by 1. It adds the column without any complains but I do not get expected result in the report.

Further trying to figure out what is the reason for such stange PBI behaviour:
- tried clearing cash

- deleted all the other tables, measures in the report, leaving just the table that is in concern

Nothing helps.

Hi folks,

There have been posts about this but I have not found a solution for my case. I have a perfectly numeric field in Power Query, however it does not sum by category when dropped into a Power BI table visual. Its Data type and Format are both set as Decimal number, Summarization is set to Sum, however sigma sign is not appearing at the field's name in Fields pane and the field would not summarize if placed into a table. On the other hand if such field is placed in a measure like Sum(Sales[Amount]) and that measure is placed in a table visual instead, it does summarize as expected. Furthermore, if the whole table is copied from Power Query (Ctrl-C) to a new Power BI instance(Ctrl-V), the field has the sigma sign as expected and works fine.

Any ideas what can be done to solve this issue?

Power BI slicer with "between" function bug

Hello,

It looks like there is a bug in Power BI slicer. If I use it for the table {1,2,3,4,5}, that holds integer numbers only and set "between" action, I can not select values from 2 to 4 exactly, for example. If I move both sliders in an attempt to get values between 2 and 4 it sets values from 2.3453452 (or something) to 4.879823 (or something). I.e. it is not possible to set values for precise filter {2,3,4}.

Hello,

I need to extract contents of a web page like this :
https://SomeWebPage/?date=25/1/2023

My problem is that I have to specify the date (which is today's date) every time I extract data. I can build today's date dynamically but then I can not set automatic refresh in Power BI Service.
I am trying to set today's date via parameter but parameters do not allow to use formula like DateTime.LocalNow()). What is the way out?

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how HTML.Table works. Microsoft description of this function is very basic. Let's say I have a simple HTML code "<td> 100.67</td>" from which I want to extract the value (100.67). Trying this code, but it does not give me wanted result, although does not complain about syntax:

= Html.Table("<td> 100.67</td>", { {"myValue", "td"}})

This one does not work either:

= Html.Table("<td>100.67</td>", { {"myValue", "td"}}, [RowSelector="td"])

What am I missing here?

Very odd for me too. This happened in an account that has double authentication enabled. Do not know if this might be the reason.

Hi,

I have this problem when old report that was deleted from all the workspaces is still present in Favorites + frequents. User can still open it although neither the report nor its underlying dataset are present in any of the account workspaces. There seems to be no way to permanently delete it except deleting the whole workspace and creating it anew. Looks like a Power BI Service bug .

Getting "This dataflow contains tables that require a Premium capacity, such..." in PPU account

Hi folks,

Decided to test Incremental refresh in Dataflows. Subscribed to PPU account, created my dataset in one of the workspaces and, alas, got stuck with this message:
"This dataflow contains tables that require a Premium capacity, such as linked tables, computed tables, streaming tables, or tables with active incremental refresh settings."

What am I missing here? Microsoft documentation says that PPU licence allows incremental refresh. The process of setting incremental refresh seems pretty straightforward.

Well, after some testing I think I found it out. Do not attempt to publish report that uses a dataset from another workspace. Instead go to your workspace in PBI Service and upload your pbix file from there.
