It's ok with the desktop. But how can we change the dataset on a report created by users on the service ?

I can't download the pbix because it was based on a shared dataset.

It seems impossible ? Incredible ??

Thks. I saw the thread before posting.

I know ETL processing for years, Oracle docs don't help me 😉

My problem is thechnical with dataflows. But i think the use case of building an historical table based on files with dataflows is difficult to achieve (impossible?).

I think that the concept of building a dwh with dataflows only works with a SQL Source.

I have the impression, that I will need to construct an historical table with an ETL on prem.

This limitation should be explained.

Hi,

As indicated in the doc, we try to build a small dwh from scratch with dataflows.

We have PPU licences.

We received data based on csv files from applications.

We try to implement this process:

1. A staging table with daily files content

2. A transformation dataflow for loading stg rows into an historical table

3. DWH table based on stg historical table

We didn't manage to implement the second step to add rows in an historical table.

Quite simple with an ETL and a DB, but not with a dataflow storage and tranform.

I tried to use incremental refresh to manage my history. But it doesn't work because my staging datasource is volatile (only day content).

Except this doc, i didn't found an exemple of implementation. Any exemple, best practices ?

deploy a dataset based on dataflow connector

Hi,

I have datflows based on sql server.

I use those dataflows in datasets, that i deploy with pipelines.

All the steck is used !

It's ok when i use powerbi dataflow connector.

But i have performance issues with a big table (195M rows).

I tried to configure incremental refresh.

It didn't work at all.

I noticed that it's now prefered to use the new Dataflow connector that allows query folding.

When i publish on my dev stage, a generic dataflow source appears on lineage but without a link to the data flow table used.

Et when i depoyed on test and refresh the dataset, there's a problem. It's not data from tests stage but dev stage....

Hi,

I have the same problem using an update date for incremental refresh, that generates duplicate values.

The problem is that i only refresh the last 10 days, but the last refresh from a row could be older in the past (more than one year).

Any advice ? Why during the second refresh, the initial row is not updated ?

Thank you for your quick response.

We did a lot of tests. Datasets are always linked to dev dataflows after deploy. Because, in the m query there's the ids of workspaces and dataflows...

We have the same problem.

With the pipeline we can deploy dataflows between workspaces.

But we can't deploy datasets based on thoses datflows. They are always based on dev worspace.

Wich parameters to add ? the id of the dataflow ? it's too complicated and can generate errors...

What is the best practice ?

It's possible to do it.

But you need to open a ssh tunnel with a tool like putty and forwarding ports.

It worked for me following this tuto

Data comes from a dwh on premises.

It's not a simple dataset, there's many tables, measures, roles.

Security Permissions is identical, it's just the public that's different for a report.

If i do a second pbix file with the same dataset, i'll have to maintain both models.. :-(

Actually, i do pbix reports based on the data set published on the service.

Sharing Datasets

Hi,

I got a workspace wtih a dataset (with security roles configured) shared by an application.

This dataset is managed in a pbix file.

I got various reports based on this dataset.

It works fine.

I need now to do a new report based on this dataset but only to other users.

With the application, i can't do this.

Wath is the best option ?

Content packs: this feature seems to be deprecated
Publish the pbix file to a second new workspace. It doesn't seem the best option:
- I need to configure the security, scheduling twice
- Each evolution to the model must be published twice (a bit risky...)
A best idea ? I can't create a ssas cube.
