Hi I'm getting this error message, not sure if there is a bad join or what the issue is likley to be? Any suggestion would be apprectiated as the other option is rebuilding the model.

Similar issue had been submited previously internal(ICM: 295505804), basically it should be fixed under the lateset May version of  Power BI Desktop.

Has this report been created under the previous version of Power BI Desktop and opened with the latest version, you can try to reconnect to the dataset and check it again.

In addition, if there is any progress about this issue, would update here as soon as possible.

  • In my case, I just found one of the freshly added measures via Tabular Editor that was breaking the update. Removed it from the report. Added it again with a different name and everything worked.

Finding that measure was a matter of successively deleting measures until the update worked.

Also from the recommendations I've seen:

Check for Duplicate Elements: Ensure that the data or elements you are querying do not contain duplicates when they are not supposed to. This is often the case when you expect a unique identifier but find multiple entries with the same identifier.
