I was facing the same problem with a composite model and version 2.102.845.0 64-bit (February 2022) .
How I was able to solve the issue:
As the dataset with direct access initially was a copy of the imported one both datasets contained the same tables with identical names.
The imported one is refreshed weekly and queries last 12 months' data from SAP BW whereas the one with direct access is refreshed twice a day querying only current weeks' data from BW.
After renaming the tables in the direct access dataset refresh is working fine, again. 🙂
