Issue - Premium per capacity slower than Pro

Hi!

 

2 weeks ago, I moved the workspace storing a report for about 40 users from Pro to Premium. All good the first week, everything ran just as smoothly as in Pro.

 

However, users recently started noticing severe performance issues, the report taking minutes to load while it used to take seconds.

I double checked that it wasn't related to any recent changes to the PBIX by uploading an old version, by the slowness remained.

I temporarily switched back to Pro environment and the report loaded within seconds!

 

Are there any known issues with the premium per capacity service lately?

    Hi Anonymous,

     

    Did you issue happen with Premium Per User capacity but not Premium capacity? Currently, if you move your workspace back to the Premium Per capacity, will this kind of performance issue happen again?

    Normally, there are these possible reasons causing the slow issue. You may troubleshoot this issue by referring this official document. Optimize Microsoft Power BI Premium capacities - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

    • Insufficient capacity resources
    • Inefficient report designs
    • Dataset is slow
    • High concurrent report usage

     

    If this issue still exists, please check whether this issue happens on a specific reports or all the reports in the workspace? Is this issue happens at a specific time range or randomly?

    Sorry for not precising but I am indeed using Premium per Capacity.

     

    After investigating further, reverting to v0 of the report (extremely simple model back then, just a couple of Excels stored on Sharepoint, no transformations, basically just displaying simple values), the slowness remained on PPC but works fine on Pro.

     

    Also checked other workspaces within the company, all on PPC; some with basic reports, others complex, non optimised, and they all seem to suffer from the same issue.

    It doesn't happen at specific time ranges, it has been pretty much constant since the beginning of the week.

     

    Is the capacity that is managed by my company?

    We had a similar issue happen to us as well. We just switched to Premium Per Capacity, and we have users who are using bookmarks to access Dashboards, where the dashboard takes minutes to load, where previously it was a few seconds.  We found that if the user navigates to the dashboard from the home screen it loads quickly, but when using the bookmark it takes over a minute.  Bookmarks to dashboards always loaded fast before, and then when switching to Premium all of a sudden they were very slow. Bookmarks to reports seem to load quickly however.
