Error when using live connection to Power BI dataset "An error occurred while loading the model"
Hi there,
I have published a master.pbix to a workgroup.
I created a new contracts.pbix file with Live Connection to the published dataset.
I saved the .pbix with some visuals and published it to the same workgroup.
I succesfuly created a PowerBI APP from the contracts report.
Now, when i restart/open the thin contracts.pbix i get this error:
Cannot load model
"We couldn’t connect to your model in the Power BI Service.
The dataset may have been deleted, renamed, moved, or it is possible
that you don’t have permission to access it.
No OLE DB Error information found."
I see this issue is reported earlier, but solution was to update to the latest version of PowerBI Desktop.
I am using the last version (june at this moment).
Would appriciate some help here.... don't get it
Regards, Rob.

Hi RobJo,
Please double check if the master report does exist and isn't renamed recently. Please open Power BI desktop, choose Power BI datasets connector, check if you can find the master report and connect to it correctly.
Please enable the Power BI desktop trace, then open the contracts.pbix file, share the desktop trace log with us around the time that issue occurs. You can upload trace files to your OneDrive and send the share link to me via private message.

Helper I
I cleaned up my datasets in the Workgroup and published the master dataset again.
I created new pbix files with connection to the new dataset and now it seems to work allright.
Thanks for your response.I enabled tracing, so when this occurs again, i can sent you a a trace file.

Hi v-qiuyu-msft I'm having a very similar problem as reported by RobJo here.
- a MASTER .pbix hosted in a sharepoint location, and then connected to from the service (from 2 different workspaces - this was pre the new shared and certified datasets option).
- Thin reports created by conncecting to the MASTER dataset in the Power BI service. This has worked fine for some months.
- Same error message as reported by RobJo since Friday and therefore unable to open any thin reports.
- The problem is an older workspace. The other new workspace, which connects to the same MASTER .pbix in sharepoint location works OK. However I do have a very similar MASTER v2. pbix which is working fine in the older workspace.
- Though I cannot open the thin Reports .pbix in Power BI Desktop because of the error, all the reports in the service and working and refreshing still.
I have created a new blank report, then tried to connect to 'Power BI datasets', and while I can definitely see the dataset there, I get the same error. Can I share the Trace with you?
Thanks,
Patrick
