Yes, also in design mode, being able to click on a visual to customise each part (like in excel, select a single bar, series, or axis to change colour etc.) as the formatting pane is getting busier and cluttered (especially as it is shared with the visualisation icons). Maybe having two panes for viz and formatting similar to adobe illustrator. When in preview mode, clicking on visuals will cross-highlight or have all the intelligence and drill-through features.
