Support Workspace Identity Authentication for Cloud Connections in Microsoft Fabric
Hello Fabric Team,
Currently, Workspace Identity authentication is not fully supported for cloud connections in Microsoft Fabric. I encountered a warning while attempting the following:
Creating a gateway connection for a Fabric Lakehouse using Workspace Identity.
Setting up a connection for Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) using the same authentication method.
These authentication scenarios are critical for ensuring seamless and secure connectivity in enterprise environments. It would be incredibly valuable to extend support for Workspace Identity across these cloud connection types.
Request:
Add Workspace Identity authentication support for connections to:
Fabric Lakehouse via gateways
Azure Data Explorer (Kusto)
Provide roadmap updates and/or interim workarounds if available.
Note: Please correct me if I've misunderstood the current limitations.
Thanks for considering this request!

- ryanrallenNew MemberConnections to Lakehouses and Warehouses via Dataflow Gen2 should absolutely support Workspace Identity, but they do not. Great idea!
- AnonymousNot applicableHas the status of this changed? I can get Workspace Identity to use the Cloud Connection type, but I think support for On-premise Data Gateway and VNet Data Gateway is still missing.
