The long awaited dropdown preview is welcomed, but after trying it, I have the following suggestions:
True single select mode
This applies to the normal list view as well. It's impossible to set a selection mode that is strict single select, leaf nodes only using the UI. It's possible to do this with the JSON theme file, but this should not be necessary. See various other ideas on this.
Turn off dismiss for selection pill
If single-select is used, dismissing the selection pill reverts to "select all", bypassing the settings as detailed above. The dismiss button should be off by default for strict single select, or revert the slicer to a default selection, not no selection (i.e. select all)
Compact selection text in selection pill
If a hierarchy is used, the selection displayed in the pill is long-handed, e.g. Value 1 (Category A) + Value 2 (Category B). This could be shortened to Value 1 > Value 2, or in some cases just the leaf value is fine. I suggest the following options for multi-level selections:
- Separator between levels (+ , >, user selection)
- Show category name?
- Show only leaf values?
Since dashboards may already have displays of what is selected, allowing customisation of these details may allow consistency between the slicer visuals and other displays of selection.
