Will, I think your solution is a different approach. I actually have many customers asking for a specific data label to show multiple information such as "10 Units, 1M Revenue" and the bar chart to be based on Revenue. They don't want to use the tooltip but instead see it on the data label. Also remember that not all scenarios allow user interaction like clicking or hovering charts... using embedded solutions you can be building dashboards to be displaying on TV screens etc, and this customization is a real necessity.
