Make Data Sources/Connections Unique by Server, Data Source AND User

This idea is for Microsoft to make data connections unique based on database server, database instance AND user/database schema.

How it used to be...

In Power BI Server, all data connections were independently configured, isolated, stand-alone, and very flexible.

How it is now...

Power BI Server does not yet understand that the same database server, same database instance can have multiple different users with access to different schemas which constitute different unique data connections.

Using Power BI Server, one of our scorecards has two connections to the same database server and database instance, but each connection uses a different database user/database schema (different tables/views/etc.)

When we tried to configure both connections using identical server/database name, the report would not connect, an error was generated indicating invalid credentials.

After extensive testing, we discovered that we were able to successfully configure both connections using different server references; one connection used the server IP address, and the second connection used the fully qualified domain name.
