When adding measures to large and complex data models, Power BI appears to be doing things in the wrong order, making it extremely slow and tedious to add measures. This kills the workflow and train of thought when creating reports.
For example, when adding a new measure, Power BI will do a series of checks (or updates) in the background with the "Working on it" status displayed before anything has happened. This can take over 60 seconds to complete, but there has been no change in the data model yet. Make these checks / updates after the measure has been submitted.
Additionally, when completing a measure, it will again sit on the "Working on it" status before completing any syntax checking. This is especially frustrating when you hit enter by accident trying to create a new line break in the measure definition. If there are syntax failures prompt the user before trying to update the model.
Beyond a certain point, Power BI becomes almost unusable when working with large/complex data models due to these kinds of delays.
