It is needed to be able to resize a column for all occurrences in a matrix. That is, not by dragging the size for each and every column value, but with setting a specific pt length in the visualization setup.
If the column values change, etc depending on a slicer selection, all resizing of columns stop working and the initial sizing of the column takes over. Therefore it needs to be possible to change the "initial size" of each column.
This is for example needed in cases where column titles are much wider that what the data values actually need - causing the column width to be set according to the title length(when it would be better to wrap the titles to two-three lines). Therefore the matrices look bad if it is not possible to size the columns according to plan.

- I so wish that you consider providing the ability to "Apply Width to all Data Columns" and maybe to Rows as well. This can be just a toggle (checkbox). My current experience was to resize each of the 90-day worth of data and it was not very productive and I had to do this each time a new batch comes in.
- The New Matrix takes away the previously available ability to set all Matrix columns to a standard width. Now, you can set each column heading to a width that will track that column's location...but with 5000 different potential columns...clearly that's not a workable solution. The idea of having 5000 potential columns is NOT an edge case...it's an important use case of the Matrix visual. (Think distributors with many customers to display side by side...or products side by side...etc. The list goes on and on). So clearly removing the ability to set widths was ill-considered imo. Please restore this capability.

- I've posted on this issue before and I don't think it's registering with the dev team. This is a very big deal for the many types of models that pull column headers of all sizes from a long list...like product names/sku's, or a distributor customer's names, or in my case any from over 10,000 healthcare providers for matrix display of side-by-side performance. Matrices offer such power in being able to vary columns based on selections/slicers but when we are unable (as in no-longer able--it used to be possible in the old matrix) to set a column width, these displays are hugely unattractive and unmanageable. What can possibly be gained by eliminating this straightforward ability? As it now stands, every possible instance of a column header needs to have it's column set. So I'm sure the issue is clear...that is simply not workable. There are so many of us who are trying to work around a really difficult shortcoming of a feature that was deprecated with the new matrix.
- The matix visual resizes columns even when the auto-size option is turned off for column headers. This appears to be a bug.
- This bug is still there in November 2017 Release! I thought it was because I had Word-Wrap turned on ... but the re-sizing takes place even with the Word-Wrap off. Scenario is Matrix with Year on Columns. Once you make a new selection via a slicer all of the work you have done in getting the report to fit without the horizontal scrolling bar is undone. Very ... very frustrating. Please fix
- The columns still reset from custom widths for me as well. It definitely seems to be a bug, and continually resizing all of the columns is a huge waste of time.

- Issue in the column width size in the matrix visual. Selected year 2017 in the date slicer. In the matrix, displaying the month and year values. Aligned the column width(12 Columns) to fit the page. But when the year 2016 Is selected, the column width which I resized is off. the width of the column is shrinked. It is not showing the same column width which I resized in 2017.
- I tried to resize the column width for a matrix I created to fit all months into one page as well. But the resized width can never be the default size. Every time I reopen this report (either using Power BI Desktop or on Power BI cloud, the size of the column is still by default, even after I turn off "Auto-size column width" for the matrix.

Here we are in the end of 2022 and still need to do it based on aproximation and hoping that your eyes are sharp enough to detect the differences
- This idea will be to add a functionality of making all table/matrix columns the same width and maybe a like box where we can choose the width pixels we want.

It's mad that I can only size columns by visual guessing.
And I ALWAYS want to fix the column size. It's visually confusing for an end user to have matrix column widths vary with every interaction - it creates unnecessary visual processing noise.

an also if possible, if the width can be set by a measure or column, because in my case the columns and the values get changed by a slicer of clients, and by one client I have 6 columns, and i need to make each column smaller, and by other client I have only 2 columns and I want to make each column bigger...

- It'd be useful if you could amend the column width property of a Matrix visual (ideally per field) via the format pane rather than manually dragging on the visual.
- This is one of the formatting options that's badly needed in my opinion. An accessible width property that can be set both globally and on a by-field basis. It's amazing to me that you can set the background colour for a column, but not its size.

- In Matrix and Table Visuals have the column width be an option that can be resized by typing in a column width value versus mousing it. This would allow the Developer to be more precise in displaying the visual. Also easier. Mimics Excel functionality.

The matrix visual does not have the ability to set a fixed pixel width for all columns. It should be possible to fix the column widths in the matrix tabular table at any value, uniformly, regardless of the data that is reported and newly added to the report.
