Enable Report Subscriptions Based on Specific Working Days
I would like to suggest an enhancement to Power BI's report subscription functionality. Currently, users can subscribe to reports based on a set schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.). However, it would be incredibly beneficial to have the option to subscribe based on specific working days, such as the first working Wednesday of the month.
Use Case:
In many business environments, critical reports are needed on specific working days to align with business cycles, project deadlines, or reporting requirements. For example, a finance team may need a report on the first working Wednesday after the start of the month to review monthly financials.
Suggested Features:
- Custom Working Day Selection:
- Allow users to specify subscriptions for reports based on working days (e.g., first working Wednesday, second working Monday).
- Provide options to define working days, considering holidays and weekends.
- Calendar Integration:
- Integrate with company calendars to automatically adjust for holidays and weekends, ensuring that the "working day" definition is accurate and relevant to the user's region.
- Notification Options:
- Provide customizable notification settings for users to receive alerts when the report is generated based on their specified criteria.
- User Interface:
- Enhance the subscription setup interface to include a calendar view or selection tool where users can pick specific working days for report delivery.
Benefits:
- Improved Efficiency: Users receive reports exactly when they need them, aligning with business processes.
- Increased Flexibility: Accommodates varying business schedules and regional differences in working days.
- Enhanced Planning: Allows better planning and preparation for meetings or tasks that rely on timely report data.
Conclusion:
This enhancement would greatly improve the usability and functionality of Power BI for many organizations, aligning report delivery more closely with business needs and schedules. I believe this feature would be a valuable addition to Power BI's already robust capabilities.
