Enable “Export Data with Current Layout” without allowing summarized data export
Description:
Please separate the export options in Power BI. Today, enabling “Data with current layout” automatically forces summarized data export to be allowed as well, even though the two behaviors serve completely different audiences.
Why this is a problem:
- Basic users expect the export to match what they see on screen. Summarized export looks different, causing confusion and incorrect interpretation.
- Advanced users may understand the summarized structure, but they are not the majority.
- This mismatch creates unnecessary support tickets and frustration for report developers and product owners.
- Many organizations also do not want summarized field-level data exposed for governance reasons.
Requested feature:
Add a new option:
✔ Allow export of the visual’s current layout only
✘ Do not allow summarized or underlying data export
This gives basic users the simple, accurate export they expect, while still supporting advanced users through other export modes.
