It would be great to have the ability to connect and edit data sets directly in Excel and have those updates published real-time back to Power BI.

Hi Douglas - we provide this capability for Excel documents that are hosted on OneDrive! You can update the workbooks there and see the data reflected into Power BI. Does that address it?
