Email alerts for dataset failure are limited to the scheduler. I use the REST API to refresh the datasets. This is because I cannot schedule the refresh from a table to say that the data has now been loaded. I have now created a Automate flow to do this. The problem with this is I don't get a notification that a dataset has failed. Now I can get around this by using the REST API to load the refresh history into a table and then ping off an email when a new record is loaded with the failed status. This however cannot be done in real time. Where as the system already knows that it has failed in real time an do this activity.
Possibly by removing the 'Send refresh failure notifications to' from 'Scheduled refresh' and having this as a seperate option in the Dataset Settings, then sorting the logic behind this, would be beneficial.
