data format as bytes

I'd like the ability to format a number as bytes (KB, MB, GB, TB, PB, EB)

  • This is certainly needed. When working with large data sets that are noted in bytes, trying to manage their conversions to GB, TB, PB, etc. is annoying.
  • It's been 20 months PM team. It's amazing to me that you guys can make such an awesome product so tedious to use. Please bring us usability features, like automatic data format calculations, the type that are commonly used in IT. Based on a field type being "data" assumed in either "Bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB, etc." the reports should automatically update to the best-fit values. If working in GB, the report shouldn't show 1800 GB, it should show 1.8 TB, as an example.
  • Field properties in the Power BI Data Model allow formatting for currencies and scientific numbers, missing is data size formatting like automatic scaling into Bytes, Megabytes, Kilobytes and so on. Scientific formatting is close to it but 4.513€+11 Bytes is hard to use.
  • A bytes/kilobytes/megabytes etc data type would be very helpful instead of multiplying columns by 1024 or more. One big challenge currently is that if you try to report on petabytes of data the Y axis in your graph will start showing scientific notation like 3E+15 which is not very user friendly.
  • This would be great, especially when units are set to Auto!

For example, instead of showing 20.13 Million GB and 5.44k GB, it could display as 20.13 PB and 5.44 TB.
