Connection naming

Currently, Fabric allows duplicate names of Data Connections. It also does not allow editing of names so you get things named "Warehouse". When you have multiple warehouses in a tenant, that is absolutely USELESS.

A) DUPLICATE names of connections should NOT be allowed. When I go to select a Data Connection, all I am presented with is the name. If I have TWO of the same name, I don't know which is the one I want.

B) Users (Admins) should be allowed to EDIT Data Connection names AFTER they have been created, and also DURING creation. (See classic Azure Data Factory for good user experience.)

  • I'm not sure if this is some sort of resolution of this issue, but we're noticing that, when we create a new connection with our naming convention WORKSPACE-WAREHOUSE (system_user_name), that connection name gets modified automatically to append the username of the user who created the connection. Even if we explicitly name the connection when creating it Which isn't helpful.
