If you could give readers of a report or dashboard the opportunity to comment on the figures they see, it would add enormous value.
We are often given this requirement. The most common is from the Finance department for 2 reasons, first is when they are working on closing the month and the numbers are unexpected due to incorrect data entry from operations that they need to correct. Second is when the closed month is not as expected and an explanation is needed for the management team. Linked to this is, whenever a report is shown containing the transactions that cause the blip, the report / dashboard would need a warning symbol to indicate that there is a comment against data within the report. Another less important requirement has been to search past comments for the details when something similar happens again and to find what the resolution was.
