hi, I have been using Power BI over several months and recently upgraded the version. Now Power BI does not launch, it hangs on the start up panel "Initializing model...". I checked the event log and an error is logged "Event ID 25 from source MSOLAP$AnalysisServicesWorkspace882451754 cannot be found.". Also indicates the following in Event Data: "The following information was included with the event: msmdsrvi.rll 1053 " I have re-installed a number of times, restarted the PC and nothing seems to help. Simply can't use Power BI Desktop anymore. Can anyone help?? Thanks Stephen

- hi, i've a similar problem since the previous update (june update if im not wrong). i get the "initializing model..." as well, and the power BI icon appears momentarily in the task bar before disappearing without any error message. it doesnt show up on the task manager as well. even after the recent august update, the same problem still persists. on windows 10 64bit if that helps.

- hi, Does anyone have any ideas? I have just spent two days looking at this and trying solutions from forums but I cannot get Power BI Desktop running. Very difficult to provide recommendations for this tool if I can even get the application running! Thanks Stephen

I too sick and tired of this problem. I have tried installing all the previous versions, still it shows "Initializing Model" then stops. - Was there any resolution to this?

- 'Same issue here; started after the December Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Application closes completely after "Initializing model..." Here are the errors I'm receiving in the event log: The description for Event ID 72 from source MSOLAP$AnalysisServicesWorkspace1996630680 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Desktop\bin\FlightRecorderSnapshotDef.xml -- The description for Event ID 0 from source MSOLAP$AnalysisServicesWorkspace1996630680 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services 64 Bit Enterprise x64 CTP 13.0.1700.620
- Had a call with support today and was told that the latest Windows update caused an issue that prevents the 64 bit version of Power BI from working. Current solution is to install the 32 bit version.
