Currently, Fabric users attempting to ingest Change Data Capture (CDC) streams from MariaDB are forced to use the generic MySQL DB (CDC) source. While MariaDB is a fork of MySQL, their evolution has diverged. MariaDB has specific binlog nuances and native DDL statements that the generic MySQL Debezium connector cannot parse. When the MySQL connector hits these MariaDB-specific DDL statements, the Eventstream fails. Hence the suggestion to introduce a dedicated MariaDB (CDC) source in Fabric Eventstreams. Since Debezium (which powers Fabric's CDC) already maintains an official, dedicated MariaDB connector that inherently handles these parsing differences, exposing this specific connector in Fabric would solve the compatibility issues.
