Visuals Issue

Hi,

We have a PBI dashboard that is functioning properly in PBI Desktop but is having some errors when viewing on a web page.

Anyone can help please?

  • Hi kelvinlazam

I was able to reproduce this issue,

Go on your server, and click on the ... in front of your report and select manage

Then go in datasources and enter the credentials to get access to the database

Normally after that, it should work

  • Hi kelvinlazam

Can you click on see details ?

To get more details on the issue

I had something similar at a custommer place also with SQL Server in import mode, and it was due to a missing credetentials, but with the error message, it will be easier 🙂

        Hi kelvinlazam ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.

Please try below things to fix the issue.

        1. If you made changes to the model like renamed columns, changed data types and removed fields, but didn’t update the visuals, PBIRS may throw errors even if Desktop handles them properly.

        2. If your report uses features from a newer Power BI Desktop version than your Report Server supports, visuals may break. Go to PBIRS --> Settings --> About --> Confirm version.

Note: Please use same version of Power Bi desktop and report server.

        3. Some DAX functions or custom visuals may not be supported in PBIRS. Even standard visuals can fail if they rely on newer formatting or interactivity features.

        4. PBIRS may cache older versions of the report. Try to Re-uploading the .pbix file. Restart the Report Server service. Clear browser cache or test in incognito mode.

        5. Open the PBIX in Power BI Desktop for Report Server. Rebuild the broken visuals and Remove & re-add fields and Re-apply filters manually.

        6. Validate all measures and calculated columns. Save and re-upload to PBIRS. If it fails again, the issue is likely with the model or visual compatibility. If it works, the original report might have corrupted metadata or legacy bindings.

        7. Check the Report Server logs, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\PBIRS\LogFiles. Look for errors related to your Activity ID.

I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.

        Regards,

        Dinesh

  • Hi kelvinlazam

What can of data sources are you using?

    Direct query or import?

It looks like the gateway is not configured to retrieve the data
