I was able to resolve this. I edited the Sharepoint path back to ? and including ? and tried it in both Power BI Desktop and Power BI for Excel and it worked.

Most Valuable ProfessionalI'm not entirely following, but you may want to make a scheduled Power Automate flow that sends the data from Excel to SQL so that you don't need to be downloading it every day. If you're using the Excel file directly as a PBI datasource, you can connect to it while it lives in SharePoint without downloading it as well (the downloaded copy would need to be re-exported to reflect changes, so it's better to leave it in SP).
