POwerBI & AWS = Stripped Down Version?

Can PowerBI work with AWS servers?

 

I was told the full version of Power BI is only available when using MS Azure. Any version that works with AWS would be a limited stripped down version. Is this correct information?

    It depends on what you mean by "works with".

     

    If you are using the cloud based version on powerbi.com you can connect to data stored on AWS data sources like Redshift. So it's possible to run using both clouds and have your reports on Powerbi.com pull data from AWS. 

     

    If you want to install Power BI on an AWS VM you can only install Power BI Report Server which is the on-prem product which does not have all the functionality available in the Power BI service.
