EnableCDNVisuals & how it affects custom visuals

Hi,

So earlier today we tried to disabled the following setting on the power bi report server:

EnableCDNVisuals
(Power BI Report Server only) When enabled, Power BI reports load the latest certified custom visuals from a content delivery network (CDN) hosted by Microsoft. If your server doesn't have access to internet resources, you can turn off this option. In that case, custom visuals are loaded from the report that was published to the server. Default is True.

Our report server doesn't have access to the internet so we thought it safe to set it to false, but what we found was after setting it to false all our custom visuals stopped displaying? They only showed up again after we reverted this change and the restarted the service?

Is this expected?

Thanks

After researching and investigating, it appears that other users are experiencing similar problems and we have reported to the internal ICM:293668518

If there are any updates, I will promptly give you feedback here

    Hi id013 ,

As the documentation says, if you set EnableCDNVisuals to False, custom visuals are required to be loaded from reports that have been published to the server.

Please try to publish the report to the report server first and then set EnableCDNVisuals to False again.

    Hope it helps,

      Hi,

So I should have probably mentioned that we are currently using an on-prem version of PBI report server. So all we do is upload the pbix file to the report server environment and host it on sharepoint? Is this equivalent to publishing it?
