Data Refresh in PBI Report

I'm not sure about what you are talking... "button as the interface in PBI Report" if about interface in PBI Report on Power BI Report Server portal (as end user), or interface of Power BI Desktop (as developer).

 

If on Power BI Report Server, there never has been button to refresh data model. There is button to refresh data in visualization from direct underlying data. It's mean, if you are using import mode, is refreshed only data from internal vertipaq database (which are not changed). If you are using live connecton, visual are refreshed from dedicated SSAS model (which could have been updated meanwhile by another process). Or if you are using direct query, in this case visuals are updated with new fresh source data.

 

Only way how update import mode data, is run scheduled refresh (automatically or manually).

 

Second, If in Power BI Desktop, you can refresh source data to model anytime pressing refresh button in Power BI Desktop.
