Workload Error Code PersonalGateway_ShortMessage_PublishingError

When attempting to sync my PBI workspace with an Azure DevOps repo, I'm getting the following error message - Any ideas on how this can be resolved?

Workload Error CodePersonalGateway_ShortMessage_PublishingError

Workload Error Message Dataset Workload failed to import the dataset with dataset id 9cd4ba1f-xxxxx. ErrorCode found in Companion extendedDsid: PersonalGateway_ShortMessage_PublishingError. CPEX[|{"ErrorCode":"PersonalGateway_ShortMessage_PublishingError","ExceptionCulprit":1,"IsPermanent":false,"Message":"ErrorCode found in Companion extendedDsid: PersonalGateway_ShortMessage_PublishingError"}|]

  • Hi v-ssriganesh ,

Turns out the problem was the workspace wasn't assigned to a Fabric Capacity! It worked fine when that was fixed.

  • "PersonalGateway_ShortMessage_PublishingError" is a dataset publish/import failure that fires when the service thinks the dataset needs a Personal Gateway during a Git -> workspace update, and that binding cannot be satisfied. Examples with this exact code: Stack Overflow and Reddit.

    1. Why it appears
During "Update from Git", Fabric validates data source bindings. If a source resolves as on-prem/local or requires a gateway, the dataset workload cannot complete when a Personal Gateway would be needed. Background on gateways: Personal mode, Standard gateway
    2. What to do next
Create and map a Standard gateway data source for any on-prem or local connectors, then run Update again (gateway doc). If possible, move those sources to cloud endpoints so no gateway is required, then Update.

Hi v-ssriganesh , No luck yet - All of my data sources are sourced from dataflows/databricks so I wouldn't have expected to have had to set up a on-prem/local gateway. I'll continue to investigate today and will update once I've found a solution.
