Upload to existing dataset
Hi All,
Is there a way to download a report from the BI service (assuming all access rights allow this), make minor edits (let's say change the colour theme) and then re-upload to the service WITHOUT creating a new dataset?
I have a workspace where I would like to allow certain users to edit reports from the core data.
Thank you in advance,
Ben 🙂

Yes, For the report that created in power bi service, you couldn't download its pbix file.
so this report couldn't be edited in power bi desktop and replace the one in power bi service.

Anonymous - To specifically answer your question, yes. You can go to a report in the Service, go to the ellipses menu, download PBIX file. Make changes. Publish back to the Service in the same workspace, a new dataset will not be created, it will ask if you want to overwrite the existing report/dataset.

Thank you for your reply,
This has not been the case for me in the past. although the reports in question were created directly in the service and not on the desktop version. Could this be the issue I should be aware of in future?

You can download a pbix. But to publish back you need to be the owner/have permission to write back on that dataset and report
