trying to add pipeline using on prem sql server - getting azure sql error instead
- Anonymous10 months ago
Hi db042190 ,
The state may be disabled because you are using 3000.202.13 Version of the gateway,
You need an on-premises data gateway version 3000.214.2 or higher to support Fabric pipelines.
How to access on-premises data sources in Data Factory - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.
Thank you
3000.214 is the March 2024 version. Your gateway must run a really, really old version. Consider upgrading.
thx ibendlin. i know there is a gateway client install on the client, namely our sql server. But have to believe there is one higher perhaps in the cloud under our tenant. Which (or both) would you upgrade?

our dba ran a ps script (2 different ways, one with get-item property, one with get-ciminstance...) that shows 3000.202.13. im guessing just from what i saw in his output that this is at a level higher than the dw client gw that i think had to be installed on the dw also.

Please do not install Power BI Gateway on a VM that is running other workloads. Needs to be installed on dedicated VMs (ideally more than one so you can create a cluster)

thx, no vm's in the picture. i'm just trying to determine if that link with the recommended solution is talking about our dw which is on prem and where i think a gw client had to be installed, and/or something/somewhere higher which is a "gw to on prem". If its something higher, if i should ask our cloud guys to upgrade maybe from th eazure portal. the term on prem gw is confusing because the dw server is on prem and the architecture is a gw really from the cloud to on prem.
