Set Alert Feature, which licence
Hey all,
in our company the users ask about the "Set Alert" functions in the Power BI Service, because they want to get a message when a measure changes after the data refresh.
At the moment we provide a mix of Premium workspaces with just viewing rights and pro licences to certain user.
The question now would be, can you set up an alert in a Premium workspace if you only have a free licence.
I read in the documentation about alerts, that you need changing rights on a report to set up an alert, but doesn't this also mean that you need a pro licence, because you can only work inside the workspace as member or contributor with a pro licence?
Or is there any other way for setting this up? Like someone with a Pro licence creates in the activator object the alerts for every user.

Free Power BI users do not require edit access to set alerts on dashboards, provided the workspace is in Premium capacity. Key points:
• Workspace Type: Alerts can be configured in Premium workspaces or My Workspace without edit permissions.
• Viewer Role: Free users need only Viewer access to the dashboard to set alerts via the tile’s Manage Alerts option.Good blog to read about this :

Does this involve also alerts for reports, because you mention only dashboards.- nilendraFabric

Free Power BI users can indeed set alerts only on dashboards in Premium capacity workspaces, while direct report alerts require Microsoft Fabric licenses.
