Semantic models not refreshing for "transient" issue

Hi all,

I am having multiple issues I have never seen before in Power BI and maybe I can pick your brain:
Below is a summary of the situation:
  • Issue Onset: On Thursday afternoon (UK time), a scheduled maintenance started—we did not schedule it, so we believe it was initiated on the Microsoft/Power BI Service side.
  • Since then, no reports have been accessible, and all semantic models fail to refresh due to a "transient issue"

  • I have engaged with the Microsoft support and tested the basics (changing browser, account, and device), confirming that the issue is not local but rather related to Power BI itself.
  • I encountered multiple errors and problems, indicating that published semantic models do not contain data and are entirely inaccessible.

  • I found that republishing the same models and/or reports under a different name restores functionality. However, this is not a viable solution, as it would require republishing 100+ reports and manually resubscribing hundreds of users.

There must be a way to reset the settings of the models to restore functionality without requiring republishing (maybe?)
Or any other ideas/approaches I can try.

Please note that I have premium and amdin capacity/rights and have tried all the basics with the Microsoft support.

Thanks,
S
  • FYI the support team came back without a real answer and just suggested to re-publish everything (10+models and 100+ reports and subscriptions)

As you can imagine it is not the outcome liked and I wanted. Very frustrating and expensive as a "transient issue"

  • You already have a ticket open with Microsoft. That's your best approach to getting this resolved.

    Hi sgallo ,

The insights provided by lbendlin , are correct. Since you have already engaged with Microsoft Support, continuing with their guidance is the best approach to resolve this issue.

The solution you provided was to wait for Microsoft support...

Not really sure how to further action this beside wait for their support.
