REST API for subscriptions V2
Hi Himanshu_G ,
Thank you for reaching out. I understand that you are experiencing issues with Power BI REST APIs related to subscriptions and would like clarification on their supportability.
To clarify, the APIs provided in Subscriptions - REST API (Power bi report) | Microsoft Learn are specifically designed for Power BI Report Server (on-premises) and does not apply to subscriptions created in Power BI Service (cloud-based).
Power BI Service Subscription APIs:
For Power BI Service, Microsoft currently provides Admin APIs that allow administrators to retrieve details about report and dashboard subscriptions:
-
Get Report Subscriptions as Admin
-Retrieves subscription details for a specified report.
Admin - Reports GetReportSubscriptionsAsAdmin - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn -
Get Dashboard Subscriptions as Admin
-Retrieves subscription details for a specified dashboard.
Admin - Dashboards GetDashboardSubscriptionsAsAdmin - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn
For a comprehensive overview of all available administrative APIs, you can refer to the Power BI REST APIs - Admin documentation: Admin - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn
We understand that many users are looking for enhanced API capabilities for managing subscriptions in Power BI Service. The product is continuously evolving, and Microsoft actively considers customer feedback for future improvements.
There is an existing idea posted in the Power BI Ideas forum requesting extended API support for subscriptions. I encourage you to upvote the idea to increase its visibility and help prioritize it for future enhancements:
Subscription API - Subscribe to Paginated Reports ... - Microsoft Fabric Community
Alternatives for Subscription Automation:
If you need automation capabilities, consider using Power Automate to create workflows that send report snapshots or trigger notifications based on data refresh events.
