Reports suddenly only showing data within incremental refresh time range
Hello folks,
TLDR:
About 120 reports suddenly only showing data from within the incremental refresh time range, and no older data. Everything has worked perfectly until recently. What is wrong?
Full version:
I work with PBI and Service professionally and manage well over a hundred reports on a daily basis. The reports have a default incremetal refresh time range of 6 months, which in our case is a compromise between reducing DB workload and catching historical data that our customers manually insert through our API.
Reports are uploaded as empty templates with a PowerShell script, and all relevant parameters are set after upload, so the reports contain no data on upload.
Recently we have noticed that newly uploaded reports only show data within the incremental refresh range ie. from the last 6 months. This has not been a problem before, and despite having an incremental refresh turned on, they showed all available data.
As a test, we re-uploaded all reports without incremental refresh turned on, and then all data was visible again. This however is not a viable solution, since it will result in too much traffic on our DB.
This is obviously a big problem for our business, and we have to act on it immediately, but I have decided to ask here before raising a ticket with Microsoft.
What might be wrong here? Has there been any recent changes in the way PBI, Service or the REST API works, or are there changes in the newer versions of PBI desktop which might explain this?
Cheers Mike

Hi! h4tt3n
There is no such change on MS side, can you double check that the incremental settings are not changed by anyone for this report? I mean it's the same what you are expecting. If so, please raise a ticket as without seeing it won't be possible to advise much on it.

Hi AnkitKukreja
No settings have been changed, anywhere. There is nothing much to see, except that in PBI Desktop data is shown correctly, and the same report when pushed to PBI Service only shows data within the incremental refresh period. I fail to see how this is not caused by a change in the way PBI Service works.

Hi! h4tt3n
Can't comment much about it. Though I've seen few issues like that in my organization, will check and let you if I can find any more info about the same. I would recommend please raise a support ticket to MS.
