I’m exploring using the Publish to Web functionality to make available dashboards of information on our public website that we would need to release if subject to a Freedom of Information request in the UK and had a couple of questions.
- The guide notes “Only use Publish to web with reports and data that the anyone on the Internet (unauthenticated members of the public) should be able to see. This includes detail level data that is aggregated in your reports.”
My assumption is that if I hide all the tables before publishing anyone viewing the dashboard will not be able to access the row level data using “See Records”? What other detail data might someone be able to access? - Which region is the Data Centre for reports published using Publish to web located in?
Any help would be appreciated.

The best way to find the answers is testing it.
1. According to my test, the users still can see some data like it shows in the snapshot.
2. It could be all over the world. The publish to web data will be accessible to the whole Internet.
Note: Publish to web with the confidential or private data isn't a good idea. There are many risks. For example, the users who have Edit access but don't aware it's a public report could add confidential info or change the safety settings. Or the new data is confidential.

Thanks for the reply. See Records lets you see the columns used in the chart but am I correct that if other columns in the table are hidden they are not accessible? Thats what my testing appears to show. It also appears to be that See Records disappears when a measure is used in the chart.

Yes, you are right.
1. About the measure used in a chart, please refer to powerbi-desktop-see-data-see-records/#limitations.
>>>You can't use See Records when your visual uses a calculated measure
2. About hidden columns, you can also refer to powerbi-service-export-data/#from-a-visualization-in-a-report.
>>>If you are a dataset owner, you can set proprietary columns to "hidden" so that they don't show up in the Field list in Desktop or Power BI service.
