Power BI excel file upload
I am using a macbook and cannot go beyond creating a semantic model.
That is, I cannot create any report.
Error message: "cannot load model" at top of screen.
Tried various methods to get a report going but only the semantic model is created and error message on atte

What I would recommend you do is to create a semantic model in the Power BI service where you can then import your excel file into the semantic model in the service. Once that is created you can then create your report. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-datasets-understand

I tried and it works fine in new Workspace - previously using My Workspace.
Not sure what happened but your advice got me there!
Need to examine my own personal auto-pilot with MS PBI I think! Its been a while and version has changed a bit perhaps
