permissions - build / reshare
I don't want users to access the dataset and create their own reports. I DO want them to be be able to export data from the visuals in the reports I publish. Seems like if I remove build, they cannot export. What am I missing?
- Hi there
You are correct that currently that is a limitation of the way it is implemented when sharing data via Apps.
There is an idea that you can vote for on https://ideas.powerbi.com

Thank you. This answers the question.
I did vote - this is the idea that I found to match my thoughts most closely.
- GilbertQSuper UserPerfect the more votes it gets hopefully the higher it goes and could be implemented.

question for you - I used to see an option at the top of this page for ideas. I could follow your link, but how do get there on my own???
Did they bury it in another selection?
sorry to bother you with some trivial, but is aggravating me!

This was my main problem when the viewer role came out. THey told me to add build, well then they can edit the dataset. No that's not a solution. Yes, you are correct. The more input you provide the sooner it will get fixed. I know they know now. They need to have the option like checkboxes (read, update, delete, export), that kind of thing and allow you to specify per group what you want your users to do. Some I am fine with just export and others need more powerful feature set, but I need granularity to do so.
