On Premise Data Gateway - Version check

Hello,

the on premise data geteway is being managed by my IT department.

I have permission to use some of the connections that are using the data gateway(s).

My question: as a user is there a possibilty to find out which version of the data gateway is installed and running.

This would be useful to send reminders to please update the gateway...

  • Hi chris__1 ,

From the Power BI service, go to settings, Manage connections and gateways, then go to the On Premise Data Gateways tab and click the Information icon next to the gateway name and it will show you the version number.

As stated by others, one can even check the version of gateway from Power BI service

but the overall gateway must have been shared with the user and not just the connection for it to be visible for other users.

Other ways are to login within the server on which the gateway is installed as stated in above link

Correct.  As djurecic indicated, you'd need to be admin of the gateway, or have the Fabric admin role.

  • Ok, yes you do need to have gateway admin role to see it there.
