ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][Snowflake] (41)
Hi,
I have an error when I try to connect to datasource to Snowflake :
ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][Snowflake] (41) Invalid connection parameter value: warehouse:MyWHName
Because of this error I can't modify the updates.
On the desktop version, everything works properly and updates are also carried out.
Please help me !!!
Hi guys,
I encountered the same issue today. It's more like a Snowflake issue I think.
For me the fix was to run a query in Snowflake to assign a default role to my account.ALTER USER "write your username in CAPS here" SET DEFAULT_ROLE=write the default role here;
*Username to be writen in CAPS and between quotoes("username"), role to be written without qutoes DEFAULT_ROLE=X_ROLE
Let me know if it works for you also!

Hi Ybam
I know you're getting an ODBC error when trying to connect to a Snowflake data source, and based on the error message you provided, there seems to be a problem with the connection parameters you're using.
You can follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
Verify Connection Parameters:
Ensure that the warehouse name “MyWHName” is correctly specified in your connection string or settings. It should match exactly with the name in Snowflake, including case sensitivity.
Double-check all other connection parameters such as username, password, account, database, and schema to ensure they are correct.
Check Power BI Service:
Since you mentioned that the desktop version works properly, the issue might be with the Power BI Service. Verify if the credentials and connection details are properly configured in the dataset settings on the Power BI Service.
Gateway Configuration:
If you're using a gateway to connect to Snowflake, ensure that the gateway is up to date and running.
Check if the ODBC driver for Snowflake is installed and configured correctly on the machine where the gateway is running.
Update ODBC Driver:
Make sure you have the latest ODBC driver for Snowflake installed. An outdated driver might cause compatibility issues.
You can download the latest driver from the Snowflake website: [Snowflake ODBC Driver]
https://docs.snowflake.com/en/user-guide/odbc-download.html
Test Connection:
Try creating a new data source with the same connection parameters in Power BI Service to test if the issue persists.
If possible, test the connection on a different machine or environment to isolate the issue.
For more information about Connect to Snowflake in the Power BI service, you can refer to the following documentation:
