Not able to "Refresh Now"
PowerBI isn't allowing me to click on the "refresh now" icon.
Could you share more details about the issue you're facing, such as a screenshot or the exact error message?
In the meantime, here are a few common causes for refresh failures:
-
If you don't have a Power BI Pro (or PPU/Fabric capacity) license, you may not be able to refresh a semantic model yourself. Ask the model owner to refresh it or schedule a refresh, or trigger it via an API call using a service principal - this doesn't require a Pro license.
-
If a refresh is currently running, you won't be able to start another until it completes. Check the refresh history (if you have the necessary permissions) to confirm status.
-
If the required data source mapping isn't set up, open the semantic model's settings and map all data sources to their respective connections, then try again (assuming you have the necessary permissions).
- If the semantic moel is of type 'Push dataset', 'streaming dataset' or 'PubNub' dataset then you will not get an option of refresh.

Hi SC-RC,
Where can you not refresh, in Desktop or Service?
It is usually a license issue when the Refresh Button in service is greyed out. Check your license please.
