New left navigation bar
With the latest update, Power BI service (at my company at least) now has a left-nav bar that cannot be expanded to show icons and labels - it's always icons-only. Is there any way to fix this? Not a fan of the whole "let's make every single UI function like a smartphone" trend we seem to be on lately. Desktops, tablets, and phones are three completely different things... I wouldn't want to use a mouse with my phone, and I don't need unnecessary clicks when I have plenty of real estate on my 1440p work display.

Hi candersenmvp
Unfortunately as far as I can see there is no way to change this.

Not sure if there was another solution posted yet, but I was having the same problem.
My co-worker found this option. Adding a few lines at the end of your URL for the PBI Service gets the full list and show/hide icon.

This worked, thank you. I have added the ?tridentStageTwo=0 to test and it works for workspaces and Data hub as well. Thank you!

Hi pbiadm and candersenmvp ,
So far, for Power BI Service, we cannot go back to old version, it's different with software, it's just a service.

It looks like this post went astray because the post responders didn't notice that their navigation menu icons are completely different than what the OP is seeing.
If your icons look like what Anonymous posted it will expand/collapse. If your icons look like what candersenmvp posted they will not expand/collapse. Look closely at the icons and you'll see the difference. Perhaps that holds a clue.
We encountered the same issue with one employee. All other employees have the navigation menu that expands/collapses however one employee has the navigation menu like candersenmvp which does not.
Licensing is the same for all, we tested it on different computers and different browers, cleared cached and so on, but the navigation bar is the same for that one user no matter what profile, browser or computer is used. We still do not have a solution for him.

Hi Navelgazer
This is a "user interface experiment" that Microsoft is running, changing the UI of Power BI to test and try different scenarios. You can opt out of these experiments, if you have your Power BI Admin unset the tenant option, you will go back to the "standard" UI, until such time as Microsoft make a complete change for all users.
More detail and instructions here : https://www.burningsuit.co.uk/blog/power-bi-user-interface-experiments
Hope this helps
