Fetching paginated subreport data in the browser in iFrame
Hello, I've been trying to embed a paginated report with a subreport in an iframe on the web page. The outer report loads just fine , I can see the data pickers and a View button. The problem starts when that outer report calls Power Bi to get data for the inner (subreport). I'm getting:
"InternalErrorMessage": "There was an error communicating with Analysis Services.Failed to execute the DAX query.\r\nError during OLE DB operation. Error Code = 0xC1060000, External Code = 0xC1060000:.",
- To get embed URL for the main report I use access token generated for service principal. The report is a Direct Query report.
Maybe this be an issue with service principal not having enough permissions to Analysis services? Or other permissions settings within tenant / report itself?
Hi CatHistory It is likely to be an issue with permission or configuration of direct query could you check this please
Check Service Principal Permissions
Ensure the service principal has sufficient access to both the Power BI workspace and Analysis Services.Review Tenant Settings
In the Power BI Admin Portal, verify settings like "Embed content in apps" and "Use of Analysis Services live connections" are enabled.Subreport Permissions
Ensure the service principal can access the subreport’s dataset, and it resides in the same workspace as the main report.Test Direct Query
Validate the dataset in Power BI Desktop to confirm no DAX query errors or timeout issues. Check row-level security roles if used.Verify Embed Token
Use the correct embed URL and ensure the access token has permissions for both the main report and subreport.
If this post helped please do give a kudos and accept this as a solution
Thanks In Advance
