Explore this data - Save to PPU?

I am I correct to think an "Explore this data" matrix cannot be saved to PPU workspaces? Any plans to support this in the future or when GA?

  • Hey LawrenceDwight ,

I recommend creating an idea on ideas.powerbi.com.

My assumption is that you start the exploration either from a PRO, or a different PPU backed workspace and that the explorer has a PPU license assigned.

Can you please share some additional insights on why you want to safe the matrix to a different workspace?

    Thanks,

    Tom

I start the exploration in the workspace where the semantic model is stored. It is a PPU based workspace.

When I click save the "Save it to a workspace" is empty and no workspaces can be used. All workspaces are grey and the tooltip says "Explorations can only be saved to Premium capacity workspaces". This include the workspace from where the exploration started.

FYI I can save as a report so I'm able to see achieve a similar result.

I will add something to ideas and see if we can get some votes.

    Thanks TomMartens .

    Hi, LawrenceDwight

You're right. Explore your data in the Power BI service (preview) when saving, the target workspace must be in a Premium capacity. If you save to My Workspace, you may need to refresh the page to see the newly saved exploration project.

You can refer to the following documents to understand some of the limitations of these preview features:

First of all, as the super user said, you need to pitch your idea on the Idea forum and get as many votes as possible. In addition, you can follow our monthly update blog:
