Error publishing a COMPOSITE model

Hello,

I am getting an error when trying to publish to my workspace? The composite (i.e. Direct connect) model works fine in desktop. It is a combination of a Live connection to a Power BI dataset plus a few manually created tables by using ENTER DATA command. I know this functionality is in PREVIEW but I was hoping someone in the community may have run into already?

  • please clarify "my workspace" - is that your personal workspace, a standard workspace, or a premium workspace? For the last two, are you a member of the workspace? if so, what role?

        Hi Anonymous,

users on the forum here are also having this issue, but there is still no solution mentioned.

Can you make sure you are not hitting one of the limitations mentioned here?

You should be able to publish to My workspace for example, but you can't use a dataset from My workspace.

    Hi Anonymous ,

I'm a little confused about this message you said:

It is a combination of a Live connection to a Power BI dataset plus a few manually created tables by using ENTER DATA command.

Because based on my test, Power bi does not support to use Live Connection mode together with Import mode in a single pbix file:

In case, I have created a report based on a Mixed mode( using Direct Query and Live Connection) and published it to My workspace successfully.

It may be related to the environment, account number and many other factors. Please upgrade your Power BI Desktop to the latest version and have a try again.

    Best Regards,
    Eyelyn Qin
