Empty Dashboards

Hi all,

I am using powerBI to create a dashboard taking data from Data Cloud. They are scheduled to automatically refresed twice a day, around noon and midnight. However, sometime I opened these dashboards and saw that everything was empty.

After manually refreshing them, visualisation and data come back.

Could you please help to diagnosis the causes of this issue and how I can avoid it.

Thank you very much

    Hi HanhDo ,

By dashboard do you mean the report or the dashboard in workspace? Here is the difference between them.

Dashboard, the visualisation is a tile on the dashboard, a tile is a snapshot of your data, pinned to the dashboard. Normally, the dashboard will not change unless the data is refreshed.

I think the dashboard you said is report. What's the mode of your dataset? If your mode is DirectQuery or live connection, each time you load your report, the Power Bi service will not display the data until it is retrieved from the data source. Maybe it needs more time to load the data. You just need to wait a little longer.

The information you provided is too little for me to judge, please provide more details. Or you can search this article and see if it helps.

  • Thanks v-chenwuz-msft.,

Sorry I was confused a bit about dashboards and would like to confirm that its actually a report which is publised as an app.

The mode of my dataset is Import. The report is scheduled to reload twice a day (1 am and 1pm) and it usually takes 5 mins for the reload to be completed.

However, recently I observed sometimes the report was empty, the charts and figures disappeared. This is seen in the morning, around 9 and 10am. So 8 hours after the 1am reload.

Hope it somehow helps to provide a clearer picture of the issue.

If you need any further information, please let me know.

    Best

    Hanh

      Hi HanhDo ,

As your describtion, it is seen during 9.am - 10.am. Are there any other error messages?

It is possible that a large number of reports are also being viewed or used in this event segment, and insufficient resources make it impossible to view them.  “it usually takes 5 mins for the reload to be completed.” This could mean that your model is larger or under-resourced, causing the dataset to take longer to refresh.

Then please use the advanced capacity or adjust the advanced capacity of the workspace. Or optimize your model. Here are some ways on how to optimize your model that you can refer to.
