Embed Dashboard tile in Iframe

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a business case for customer service visualisations. I am now experimenting within a demo-mode and this demo gives the option to iframes. This gave me the idea to embed a dashboard (tile) into the webapp.

I am quite new to the Power BI service and all its possibilities, but I haven't found clear documentation about embedding single tiles.

So far I have managed to get a complete report embedded into the iframe, but this is not exactly what I want.

Right now, I use the following URL to link to the dashboard & tile:

https://app.powerbi.com/embed?dashboardId=xxxx&tileId=xxxx

The first question is:

Is this the right URL or have I made a mistake? Because when I fill in the 'xxxx' i keep the Power BI loading sign indefinitely.

The second question is:

Where exactly do I find the tileId? I have tested multiple paramaters that I have found but none seem to work.

Note that I only have the option to give a custom link to the iframe, I do not have the possibility to change code whatsoever.

Kind regards,

Max

  • Be aware that a dashboard tile has not much interactivity.  Also keep in mind that it mainly links back to the underlying report visual or report page.

So - make your report visual fill the entire report page and then embed the report page in your iframe. That will give you a more useful UX.
